This is our Church Story

Pastor Joe Salgado

Brother Joe was saved at age 26.  He was ordained in 1988 and since then he has pastored many churches, including some bilingual, as our pastor was born in Cuba. He has been involved in missions both in the United States and abroad, and in church school leadership.  Brother Joe's ministry also includes revival evangelism, a radio and a pamphlet ministry.

Sister Ruthie, Pastor Joe's wife, was raised in a pastor's family with teaching and musical talent.

Brother Joe and Sister Ruthie Salgado attended a local Missionary Baptist Church until it dissolved in 2005.  Not finding a church with like faith and order, the Salgados and two other families from the church met for regular Bible study.  From that weekly study a fellowship gathering was established, meeting in the garage of the Salgados on their street Spring Valley in Hollister.

The Lord impressed upon the fellowship that they should become a mission church.  Family connections were made and Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Osteen, Florida, became the sponsoring authority of Spring Valley M.B.C.  After a year of sponsorship, Spring Valley was officially organized into a church.

The church relocated from the Salgado's garage to two additional locations.  The second location flooded beyond repair in 2013.  Financial blessings allowed the church to purchase its present building that same year.

It's ten years later and the church is planning on building a new, larger facility which will be constructed on its current location.  We are excited for this phase in the life of Spring Valley M.B.C.  Come join us as we grow in fellowship and discipleship in a new, beautiful building!

Brother Joe and Sister Ruthie love the Lord and His people.  They have been serving at Spring Valley Missionary Baptist Church since its beginning in 2005.  They make their home in Forsyth, Missouri, and have 5 grown children and nine grandchildren.

She has been writing songs since the age of 4 and thanks God for the music He has placed in her heart. She is an accomplished musician and often, Sister Ruthie will provide a special song or short inspirational message.
